New E-Book: There Are Diamonds On Your Campus

How do you find people who have similar beliefs, values, goals, and visions on your own campus and across the world? How do you build deep, lasting connections with others based on these similarities?

If you are young, passionate about life and you think entrepreneurially, you probably wrestle with these questions.

I've co-written a 33-page e-book with Sheena, There Are Diamonds on Your Campus, about building deep connections with other super-achievers. Below is an excerpt:

There’s a diamond inside every piece of coal. It’s a proven fact. All you have to do is expose it to extreme heat and pressure, wait a little bit, and voilà, a diamond. Unfortunately, as we all know, it’s not that easy. Humans have not yet made a tool capable of creating diamonds from coal.

This same metaphor exists in life. In life, we probably make eye contact with thousands, if not tens of thousands of people. Even though there are diamonds in their eyes, we see coal. We’ve probably looked into the eyes of hundreds of potential friends, spouses, and business partners, and then walked on, not knowing any better. For example, in New York City, one of the world’s largest cities, people often feel isolated. Odd, right? Especially when you consider that on a simple commute to work, it is normal to literally see hundreds of people and not say a word. Think about what this means and the potential that is lost. Millions of people could be connecting, supporting, and educating each other every single day, but they don’t. Not because they can’t. Not because they don’t want to. And, not because it isn’t a good idea. On the contrary, it is because it is socially-awkward to start a conversation with somebody…Sad, but true. The environment just isn’t right and most of us don’t have the confidence to break the social norms of the environment.

It doesn’t have to be this way. This ebook introduces and provides advice on how to leverage tools and processes, some of which would normally cost over $100 per hour to use, to break past barriers. Best of all, these tools are completely free, have no strings attached, and are provided on your campus. While any student can use and benefit from this ebook, it is specifically targeted at action-oriented students interested in creating success for themselves and others.

Full Disclosure: We do promote Journeypage, our free online community that builds deep connections between super-achievers. However, in the end, it doesn’t matter if you use JourneyPage or not… the idea of finding like-minded people by using specific, under-utilized resources on your campus is still just as valid.

i hear ya man. i work in a cafe all day and talk to hundreds of individuals everyday... it's amazing how people who could really help each other out, are not only in the same community... but are in fact in line at the same cafe.

i'm excited to read your guys' thoughts on breaking down the barriers and realizing relationship opportunities.

Great e-book! You did a very good job at describing how Entrepreneurs feel(i.e., outcast, can't relate, etc.). It's as if you read my mind(and all other Entrepreneurs).

I especially enjoyed your MicroDell story. I was cracking up, but so true.

Again, great job and best of luck with JourneyPage.

Solid ebook, Michael...you really cover some good points on how students can take advantage of their college experience. I'll definitely be promoting this little jem on my blog.

Looking forward to using JourneyPage in the future...I think it really serves a niche unmet with current social networking sites.

Michael! I'm so glad to see another ebook by you. I am wholly impressed by its truth, not to mention how easily motivating it is for us young people wishing to achieve. I can especially relate to the age-old tale about parents telling us to dream big when we're 8 and then protecting us in adulthood. Anyway, thanks for the excellent book. The more exposure, the more young people it can help build connections. I can tell you, I certainly needed it!!

Thanks again!

- Mari

PS: I also joined journeypage - this is a superb addition to the book. The book is a package - not just a motivational guide, but a tremendously useful tool.
