Allegory of the Cave

As I've mentioned, it is my plan to censor myself less and to step out of my comfort zone more. In an attempt to do so, I am going to do something that I absolutely would not normally do - post a poem I wrote. Here goes - it's called Allegory of the Cave:

You and I together
On this path alone,
And I barely know you.
Glimpses of your radiant perfection,
Spotting your reflection,
In the eyes of today’s beloved.
The blessing of your presence
Always just too distant,
Breaking my heart as you stray.
Mournful suffering of anticipated pain
As the mirror’s pulled from my grasp.
An embracing from within.
Shadow’s form conceived reveals
Blissful comfort I could not find
Perfect love, sweet Divine.
